Collection: Nancy MacDonald

Nancy MacDonald is a visual artist based on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. After graduating from NSCAD University (1991) with a BFA in painting and photography, Nancy worked as a digital artist/designer in California, Toronto, and Ottawa. Like many Nova Scotians, she was drawn back to the Province in 2010.

"Settling back into one of the most beautiful parts of the world with its raw, natural landscapes has motivated me to move away from digital art, back to hands-on, traditional art-making tools and materials. I believe my intense connection to nature started as a very small child. I recall many details of the landscape in Northern Quebec, where I was born. As a kid growing up in Nova Scotia, I explored and spent endless hours wandering among the trees and on the beaches. I continue to spend my time hiking with my camera and my dog. I live in an old house on the LaHave River, near the ocean, surrounded by wildflowers and woodland full of critters, where I am inspired to explore and express my love of nature in my artwork."
